In a move sure to excite fans of both superheroes and cult classics alike, Amazon, MGM Studios, and United Artists have announced that Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill, the iconic duo from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, are reuniting. However, this time, the pair won’t be donning capes or fighting alongside aliens—they’ll be stepping into the shoes of legendary immortals in the upcoming Highlander remake, directed by none other than John Wick mastermind, Chad Stahelski. Variety reports that Crowe will take on the role of mentor to Cavill’s titular immortal hero, guiding him through a centuries-long existence where the only way to truly die is to lose your head in a brutal duel. New Insights into Adam Wingard's Approach to Face/Off Reboot In the latest update on the Face/Off reboot, it appears that Adam Wingard, known for You're Next and Godzilla Vs. Kong , is steering the project as a sequel rather than a remake, contrary to earlier information. While the original leads are likely to be recast, Paramount Pictures has entrusted Wingard and his scripting partner Simon Barrett to craft the new narrative. The 1997 action thriller, directed by John Woo and starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, will undergo a fresh interpretation with a completely new cast. In an exclusive development, Universal Pictures, in collaboration with Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions, is set to relaunch a new installment of the Scorpion King movie series, enlisting Jonathan Herman to craft the screenplay. Johnson and Garcia, along with Seven Bucks' Hiram Garcia, will produce the film. Given Johnson's commitments through 2022, the studio is actively seeking a new actor for the action hero role and a director to guide the project. The script for MGM's upcoming project, a new installment in the Pink Panther franchise, will be penned by Chris Bremner, co-writer of Bad Boys for Life. Jeff Fowler, the director of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bremner are joining forces to breathe new life into the iconic Pink Panther series. Rideback, the production banner behind Aladdin and The Two Popes, led by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, is set to produce the project. Additionally, Lawrence Mirisch and Julie Andrews, screen legend and former wife of Blake Edwards (co-writer and director of the original 1963 film and subsequent Panther movies), will also be producing. Jordan Peele, renowned for directing "Get Out" and "Us" for Universal, is set to produce a remake of Wes Craven's 1991 horror satire, "The People Under the Stairs." The original film, celebrating its 29th anniversary, followed a young boy and two thieves trapped in a house owned by a peculiar couple known as the Robesons, unleashing disturbing social commentary. Peele, along with Win Rosenfeld under their Monkeypaw Productions banner, will produce the remake. Millennium Media has revealed plans to establish its own superhero franchise by financing and producing a fresh Red Sonja movie. Avi Lerner and Joe Gatta from Millennium, citing Wonder Woman's success as a motivating factor, will produce the reboot alongside Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon.
